We wish every family in the community knew how appreciated this kind of contribution is! Learning to know SAS individuals is the single most motivating reason for people to join our cause. We'd be nowhere without pictures, presentations and quotes sent to us from parents and families. SAS children open doors and hearts in ways you'd never expect. If you have any of these, we are interested:
-High-res photos of SAS individuals and families.
-Biographies such as those found under SAS stories.
-Life with SAS-presentations by parents at our events.
-Links or pictures of SAS in the media (newspapers, TV-shows)
-Videos of SAS kids having fun.
Still not sure? Here are 5 great reasons to share your SAS story with us:
- Make your child's voice heard - Many persons with SAS remain non-verbal and have limited language skills. Yet they have voices and stories that deserve to be heard. You are the one who can bridge that gap!
- Sharing for SAS is caring for SAS - Newly diagnosed families feel more hope when they learn about other SAS families and their lives. Your story help them see that SAS doesn't define a child and that many obstacles can be overcome.
- Contribute to the SAS community, even on a limited budget - We are always in need of SAS photos and stories. Anyone can contribute to give us better possibilities to advocate for our community.
- Raise broader awareness and lived experience of the syndrome - Telling the story of your loved one is crucial to educate the world about SATB2-associated syndrome and what challenges it means for those who live with it. By raising broader knowledge and understanding, you pave the way for better support, care and treatments.
- Help us advocate and motivate - Sharing your SAS material with us helps us raise awareness and advocate for more funding and more research. Texts, pictures and videos are immensely helpful to make people, companies, institutions and donors understand who we represent and what the stakes are.
